Assembling a scene
Each scene gets a bin of its uploaded takes. Order them, press play to watch the scene through, and save a version. Fifteen minutes to find out whether a scene works.
A worked example: does scene 12 play?
You shot it three weeks ago and nobody has seen it in order. That question is what this tab answers.
Open the scene's bin
It draws on the uploaded takes for that scene’s shots. The circled ones are the obvious starting set, which is what circling was for.
Pick one take per shot
This is assembly, not trimming. You’re deciding which take and what order, not where the cut points are.
Order them
Arrange into the sequence the scene plays in. Usually that is the shot order, sometimes not, which is the interesting part.
Play it through
Play all shots in order runs the whole scene. This is the only way to tell whether an assembly works; reading a list of shots tells you nothing about rhythm.
Save a version and try again
Save the cut as a version, then reorder and save another. Versions sit side by side, so the direction you abandoned is still there when you decide it was right.
The rough-cut editor answers “is the coverage there” during a shoot. It is the wrong tool for cutting the film; move to CinemaCutter when you need to trim.
