Cutting inside a project

The Cut tab and the editor panel need a Pro plan on the project owner’s account. On a Free project the tab shows an upgrade card instead.

Start a sequence

1. Open the Cut tab

   Open a project and click Cut. It lists the project’s sequences, or says No sequences yet when there are none.

2. Click New Sequence

   You get a sequence called Untitled Sequence. It opens in the editor panel at the bottom of the page. Click its name on the Cut tab to rename it.

3. Open one later

   Click Load in Editor on a sequence’s row. The panel at the bottom switches to Editor and grows tall enough to cut in.

The panel at the bottom has four views: Script, Storyboard, Timeline and Editor. Click Editor to get back to the cut from any tab.

Switch sequences

In the editor, the sequence menu is the Seq button on the toolbar. It lists the project’s sequences and has:

1. ＋ New sequence
2. Rename
3. ⇪ Import Premiere XML…
4. ⟲ Checkpoints of this sequence, the saved points you can go back to.

Go back to an earlier version

The editor saves as you work and keeps checkpoints as it goes.

1. Open the list

   On the Cut tab, click Revisions on a sequence’s row. The table below shows each one with its note, length and time.

2. Restore one

   Click Restore on a row and confirm. The current cut is saved as a checkpoint first, so you can come back to it.

Footage in a project

You can cut with two kinds of footage:

1. The project’s takes. The AI assistant can find them and put them on the timeline, or start a sequence from a scene’s clip bin.
2. Files you import into the editor’s bin from your computer. ☁ Back up in the bin uploads them to the project so the rest of the crew can use them.

If someone else changes the sequence while you edit, the editor stops saving and warns you. Click Reload from server to pick up their version.
