Opened as a project's Cut tab, the editor knows your scenes, shots and uploaded takes, so footage arrives already labelled with what it is rather than as a folder of filenames.
Cut against your production
Instead of importing files named A001_C003.mov, you are working with scene 14, shot 3, take 2, circled. Circled takes are marked, so the ones worth cutting with are the ones you reach for first.
/cut is the same application with none of that, for footage that belongs to no production here.
