Categories and status

The fifteen categories

The category sets which filter button an element falls under and which department owns it.

Category	What goes in it
Prop	Things the cast handles.
Set Dressing	What fills the room and nobody picks up.
Vehicle	Anything driven, ridden or towed.
SFX	Effects done live on the day: rain, wind, squibs, breakaways.
VFX	Effects finished in post.
Stunt	Anything that needs a stunt performer or coordinator.
Animal	Animals and their handlers.
Makeup	Blood, wounds, aging, prosthetics.
Wardrobe	Costume items the breakdown needs to call out. The designed costumes live on the Wardrobe tab.
Camera	Extra camera needs: a second body, a special lens, high speed.
Lighting	Anything past the standard package.
Grip	Dollies, cranes, track, rigging.
Sound	Playback, extra radio mics, sound sources in the scene.
Special Equipment	Rentals that fit nowhere else: crash pads, scaffold, generators.
Other	Anything left over.

Only Prop, Set Dressing and Vehicle cards get the Add to Design button, since those are the things you’d want a picture of.

The four statuses

Status	Means
Todo	Listed, nothing done yet. Every new element starts here.
Ready	Built, bought, rigged or rehearsed.
On-set	At the location on the shoot day.
Wrapped	Done with: returned, struck or released.

Set the status in the element’s Edit form. The card shows it as a colored pill.

Scouting and breakdown

Every element has an item on the Scouting tab, and the card shows its status, like Scouting: To find. Reserve or rent that item and a Todo element turns Ready. If the rental falls through, a Ready element goes back to Todo. On-set and Wrapped are never changed by Scouting.

A rename on either tab shows on the other. Deleting the Scouting item deletes the element too. The rental price and vendor stay on the Scouting item, and the prep status stays here.
