All Characters Guides

Bulk Operations

Enter select mode to check multiple characters, then use the sticky bulk toolbar to delete, combine, auto-describe, or generate portraits for your selection all at once.

Entering Select Mode

Click the Select button in the Characters tab header to enter select mode. Each character row gains a checkbox with an animated border pulse. Click Cancel to exit select mode and clear your selection.

The Bulk Toolbar

Once you’ve selected at least one character, a sticky toolbar appears at the bottom of the screen with these actions:

Select All / Deselect All

Quickly check or uncheck every character in the list.

Invert

Flip the selection — checked rows become unchecked and vice versa.

Delete (count)

Soft-delete all selected characters. A confirmation dialog lists the characters before proceeding.

Combine (count)

Merge two or more selected characters into one. The dialog shows each character’s name and scene count so you can pick the primary.

Describe (count)

Auto-generate descriptions for all selected characters using AI. A progress indicator shows “Describing X/Y…” as each completes.

Generate (count)

Opens the portrait modal in bulk mode to generate portraits for every selected character at once.

Bulk Portrait Modal

The bulk portrait modal is a streamlined version of the single-character portrait modal. Key differences:

  • No image preview — Since you’re generating for multiple characters, there’s no single image to display
  • No upload or version browsing — These features only apply to individual characters
  • Info text — A note explains that each character’s description will be used as the image prompt automatically
  • “Generate N Portraits” button — Shows the count of portraits that will be generated

You can still configure the model, aspect ratio, negative prompt, and seed — these settings apply to all portraits in the batch.

The Sides Button

Each character row also has a Sides button. Clicking it generates an audition sides script for that character — a subset of the full screenplay containing only the scenes where that character has dialogue. This is useful for casting and auditions.
