Adding & Editing Characters

Add characters manually with the “+ Add Character” button, edit descriptions inline by clicking on any row, and use Auto-describe to let AI generate a physical description from script context.

Adding a Character

Click the + Add Character button at the top of the Characters tab to open an inline form. The form has two fields:

  • Name (required) — The character’s name as it appears in the script
  • Description (optional) — A physical or personality description you can fill in now or later

Click Save to create the character or Cancel to discard. The new character appears at the top of the list immediately.

Inline Editing

Every character row has an editable description field. Click the description text (or the empty placeholder if no description exists) to switch into edit mode. A text area opens inline — type your changes and click away or press Enter to save.

Auto-describe

Each character row has a Describe button (or Redescribe if a description already exists). Clicking it sends the character’s dialogue and scene context to an AI model, which generates a concise physical description.

This is especially useful after a script import when you have dozens of characters but no descriptions yet. You can run auto-describe on individual characters one at a time, or use bulk describe to process many at once.

Auto-describe uses credits from your account. The generated description replaces any existing text, so you may want to review and tweak the result.
