Browsing & Sorting Characters

Each character row shows a portrait thumbnail, name, scene count, page eighths, and description. Sort by name, completion, or script order, and toggle deleted characters on or off.

What Each Row Shows

Every character in the list is displayed as a row with the following information:

Row number — The character’s position in the current sort order
Portrait thumbnail — A small image if a portrait has been generated, or the character’s initial letter on a colored background
Name — The character’s name
Scene count — A badge showing how many scenes the character appears in
Page eighths — A badge showing the character’s total dialogue measured in page eighths
Description — The physical description, or an empty placeholder you can click to edit
Deleted badge + Restore — Shown on soft-deleted characters when “Show Deleted” is on

Sort Options

The sort toolbar at the top of the Characters tab lets you reorder the list. Your selection is saved to localStorage so it persists across sessions.

A → Z / Z → A

Alphabetical toggle — click once for ascending, again for descending.

Completion

Least complete first — characters missing a description or portrait appear at the top.

Script

Ordered by first scene appearance — characters are listed in the order they first appear in the script.

Show / Hide Deleted

The Show Deleted toggle in the toolbar reveals soft-deleted characters. Deleted characters appear with a muted style and a Deleted badge. Each deleted row includes a Restore button that brings the character back to active status.
