Creating a Timeline

Every scene without a cut appears as a dashed placeholder row that reads “Click to create timeline” on the right. Click anywhere on that row and CSF creates a timeline for the scene, named Rough by default. The dashed row is instantly replaced by a solid timeline card for that scene.

There’s no separate “add” button — because the tab already lists one row per scene, creating a cut is always a matter of clicking the scene’s placeholder.

Naming a Timeline

Each timeline card has an inline name field sitting after the scene heading. Type to rename the cut — something like “Rough”, “Fine Cut”, or “Alt Ending”. The name saves automatically when you click away or press Enter. Clear the field entirely and it falls back to the “Untitled timeline” placeholder.

Cloning a New Revision

Press New Revision to clone the current cut as the next version of that scene’s timeline. This is how you try an alternate assembly without losing the one you have. The row always displays the latest version for the scene, so the newest revision is the one you see and open.

Deleting & Restoring

Delete removes a cut. It’s a soft delete — the timeline isn’t gone for good. Deleted cuts are hidden from the normal list, but you can bring them back: turn on Show Deleted (see Sorting & Bulk Actions), where each deleted timeline shows a red Deleted badge and a Restore button that returns it to the active list.

Exporting

Each timeline card also carries an Export button. It’s shown but currently disabled — a placeholder for exporting a cut down the line. For now, the working actions on a row are New Revision, Delete, and Open.
