Browsing & Sorting Scenes

Each scene row shows a 16:9 landscape thumbnail, setting tag, title, time of day, status badge, page count in eighths, character pills, and action buttons. Sort by script order, name, or completion, and toggle deleted scenes on or off.

Row Anatomy

Each scene row contains the following elements:

  • Scene number — Displayed in the left margin
  • Portrait thumbnail — 200×112 at 16:9 landscape aspect ratio, showing the cinematic establishing shot
  • Setting tag — Color-coded INT or EXT badge
  • Title — Displayed uppercase
  • Time of day — Gray text (e.g., DAY, NIGHT, DAWN)
  • Status badge — Color-coded production status (if set)
  • Page count — Measured in eighths (e.g., “3 1/8”)
  • Character tags — Colored pills showing which characters appear in the scene
  • Description — Editable inline, or shows a placeholder if empty
  • Describe button (blue) — Auto-generate a visual description
  • Generate button (purple) — Open the portrait modal to generate an establishing shot

Deleted rows display a red “Deleted” badge and a green Restore button instead of the usual action buttons.

Sort Options

Use the sort buttons in the tab toolbar to reorder scene rows:

Script (default)

Sorted by sortOrder — the native script order from the screenplay import.

A→Z / Z→A

Alphabetical by scene title, ascending or descending.

Completion

Incomplete scenes first — those missing a description or portrait are sorted to the top.

Show / Hide Deleted

Toggle Show Deleted to reveal soft-deleted scenes. The toggle button shows a count badge with the number of deleted scenes. Deleted rows appear dimmed with a red “Deleted” badge and a green Restore button to bring them back.
