Exporting Your Budget
TL;DR — Click the Export PDF button to download a formatted budget document with department breakdowns and grand total.
Exporting as PDF
- 1 Open the Budget tab in your project.
- 2 Click Export PDF in the toolbar.
- 3 A formatted PDF downloads with your project name, all departments, line items, subtotals, and the grand total.
What’s in the PDF
The exported PDF includes:
- Project title and export date
- Each department with its number, name, and subtotal
- All line items showing description, quantity, unit cost, multiplier, allowance, and line total
- The grand total at the bottom
Reviewing Before Export
Before exporting, take a moment to:
- Check for any smart suggestions you haven’t accepted yet — these won’t appear in the PDF.
- Verify multipliers match your latest schedule (shoot day counts update when the schedule changes).
- Review allowance percentages — typical production budgets use 5–15% contingency.
Tips for Budget Management
- Export regularly — save a PDF snapshot each time you make significant changes, so you have a paper trail of budget revisions.
- Use allowances consistently — apply the same contingency percentage across similar departments for a uniform budget.
- Update after schedule changes — if shoot days change, verify your multipliers still make sense.
- Share the PDF with producers, investors, or financiers for budget approval and funding discussions.
