This is not some online social network. CSF is a filmmaking collective. You must participate to be a part of the revolution. Membership is by invitation. The best way to be invited is to volunteer as cast or crew on a member's project. Find new local projects crewing up at all skill levels. Serve your local community and she will serve you. This is how it's done. If you have a project you want to make and you need people, you will find them on set. No web site can bestow the connections that busting your ass on someone else's project will forge. By helping others, you learn and quickly find your own team. Very soon you will have everything you need to make the movie that brought you here today.

Thousands of projects begin everyday asking themselves, "how am I going to find blank?" And you could be the answer. We've set up a simple way to search current projects for anything you might be thinking about putting up on craigslist or leaving on the curb. Your old stuff could very well spend its retirement as a movie prop, wardrobe or set dressing. Local CSF members are eager to facilitate a pick up to make the donations as quick and easy as possible. Treat each other fairly, in the spirit of charity and you will not only rid yourself of excess possessions, you'll be contributing to local independent art in a big way. There are so many ways to be entertained by our membership. All over the country countless screenings, parties, fundraisers, and exhibitions are happening every day. Theatre and dance companies are performing new pieces. Filmmakers are hosting screening series. Local artists are just getting crazy cause it's the weekend. And you're freaking missing it? Dude... Not to worry, we have a newsletter that lists the ones worth finding in your area. They're compiled monthly for the upcoming month so you only get one email and don't have to hear from each and every promoter individually. Cinema Set Free is an idea, a mission and a battle cry that rings in the ears of the righteous. It is therefore not for sale. However, we do have many short & full-length film and theatre projects in production now and are currently looking for investors. Consider browsing our projects currently in production. Something may strike you. We've also built several "slates" of films that an investor can opt into at a very low cost. These packages of multiple films allow for a less risky kind of investment. Basically it's a pot from which all the films draw and into which all profits flow. Why invest in just one film when you can be a part of up to ten at a time? CSF finishes films. Doesn't matter if you're still in film school or humping the corporate dream. Once you're a member, you're with us. That means we don't let you fall behind. Need something? Ask. I co-founded CSF because I was tired of how seemingly impossible it is to make movies outside the system. But there is always a way. Find projects, of both the paid and passion variety, to lend your talent and build your reel. Built by working actors, our resume/headshot system is the best on the web. Auditions are a waste of time. That's right I said it. How about treat every actor like Hollywood treats their stars. A face to face meeting after you've read the script to discuss the character. It's part of our culture. We already know you're good because a friend recommended you or we've seen your work. Cattle calls are for people with no community. Plus, there's really no reason you can't start a project yourself. Atlas will teach you. Knowledge of the production process is the power to never worry about why you didn't get that callback. Fuck 'em. You got hands. Make a movie.

CSF has projects looking for crew at all levels of experience, with budgets ranging from bloated to non-existent. You might be reading this thinking you've got yourself a nice career in entertainment and don't need to help out on a indy film, possibly (god forbid) for free. Or you could be wondering if you have anything to offer CSF, seeing as you've never worked on a film before. The truth is both of you are necessary for a vibrant filmmaking ecosystem. Passing on knowledge and opening doors for respectful newcomers is a noble tradition in our field. As is meeting new people and learning new things. CSF projects will keep you sharp, keep you working, and definitely keep you from getting bored.
