The Northeast Emergency Food Program is run by 2 men, Travis and Howard. They needed a new way to show the people of Portland what their sustaining partner donations does for the community. We needed to create a 5 minute video for their upcoming donor breakfast as well as to spruce up any future fundraising efforts.
So we got to work developing a plan for the shoot. The challenge when shooting an active community project is that it’s happening in real time. Every moment we were in there interviewing or shooting B-Roll, real people where really getting their needs met. The team had to work to stay out of the way as much as to get what we needed.
The edit was a blast. Looking at the footage, it was clear that making a B-Roll list during the interviews are essential to having stuff to cover the cuts in the interviews. We were able in a couple of places to color correct for hasty lighting setups. All in all, a great learning experience.
